Evidence for the court

Investigate the conditions. Explain the findings.

We accept instructions from solicitors acting for claimants in housing conditions matters. Our experts inspect the property, assess the evidence and provide reasoned opinions within the agreed scope, with the expert’s overriding duty to assist the court.

Expert reports & Scott Schedules

CPR Part 35 compliant reports prepared for the court, with a Scott Schedule setting out the findings. Evidence, reasoning and any limitations are clearly explained.

Inspection & specialist testing

Property inspections and, where appropriate, agreed investigations into moisture, ventilation and building defects. Joint inspections can be arranged where necessary.

Support through later stages

Expert discussions and joint statements at the appropriate stage after inspection, usually once proceedings have begun. Attendance at court to give evidence where required.

Scope, fees & written terms

Agree the appointment before work begins

We welcome enquiries about individual matters and ongoing instructions. We discuss the appropriate expert, scope, fees, payment arrangements and timetable, with written appointment terms agreed before work begins.

1. Discuss the matter

Provide the property location, proposed scope and any relevant deadlines. We consider suitability, availability and conflicts before agreeing an appointment.

2. Arrange access & inspect

Once access and the necessary arrangements are agreed, we aim to inspect promptly. Joint inspection arrangements and availability can affect the date.

3. Prepare the report

Following inspection, we focus on efficient preparation of the report and Scott Schedule within the applicable CPR, protocol and court-directed timescales.

Please flag hearing dates, existing directions and urgent requirements when enquiring so we can discuss a realistic inspection and reporting timetable.
